Assassin's Creed Liberation HD is a 2012 action-adventure video game. It is the forth major installment in the Assassin's Creed series.

The year is 1765. While the American Revolution rages in Boston and New York, Spanish forces in the South plot to seize control of Louisiana for the Templars. But they have yet to reckon with Aveline de Grandpré, an assassin of mixed French and African heritage, who stands ready to defend her people.As Aveline, the first playable female Assassin in the Assassin’s Creed saga, you must use your skill, instinct and weaponry – including a machete, poison-dart blowpipe, a whip and duelling pistols – to hunt down and eliminate your enemies. Deep dive underwater as you search for lost Mayan treasures, but stay alert, for Aveline is not the only predator who stalks the hostile wilderness.Taking full advantage of its new hardware, Liberation HD introduces graphical improvements such as high-dynamic-range (HDR) rendering, high definition environments and characters, updated cinematics the sum of which delivers a complete graphic overhaul of the title. The gameplay experience has been revamped too with updated missions that improve the pacing, new missions that dive deeper into Aveline’s story, and updated world design for more gameplay options during mission. Finally, a particular attention was given to the audio with re-mastered music and all-new SFX.

Climbing up buildings and jumping around the rooftops is fun and breezy, thanks to effortless controls that strike a great balance between ease of use and player input. You can leap across alleys and scale walls with the pull of a trigger and the press of a button, and though it's possible to launch yourself from a wall or hurtle through a vendor's booth by accident, these moments aren't very common. You'd think that a city specifically designed to let you climb structures and caper about the roofs would look overly artificial, yet there's never a moment when you will think to yourself, "Wow, that looks like a place where I'm supposed to jump." The architecture looks completely natural, which makes Altaïr's abilities all the more exciting to pull off. The environments don't look as if they were created for him to climb around on; he just uses the hand he's been dealt, as any good assassin should.

Players directly control the on-screen character through a third-person perspective and can control the camera, allowing for a 360° view of their surroundings. The game takes place in an open world environment with nonlinear gameplay, allowing the player to roam freely within several regions of late fifteenth-century Italy such as Venice, Florence, Monteriggioni, Forlì, San Gimignano, Rome (The Vatican only) and the Tuscan countryside. The Animus 2.0, a new version of the machine of the same name present in Assassin's Creed, provides in-game context for changes and additions to several game elements. A database is also available, providing extra historical information about key landmarks, characters and services that the player encounters. The health system has been made more dynamic, with synchronization to the Animus and causing the character to recover only from minor injuries.More grievous injuries require visiting a street-side doctor or use of medicine.

If you antagonize the guards, they'll give chase. Yes, you can stick around and fight, and though it's never the easiest option, breaking stealth does not damn you to death like it does in other sneaking games. But why not lure them to a rooftop? Once up there, you can grab them and fling them to the street below. Or if there are too many of them, you can jump across the rooftops gracefully until you find a hiding place, such as a nice bale of hay or a curtained garden. Once you're hidden, they'll break chase and you'll be free to roam about..You could probably plow through the main quest in 20 hours if you're lucky, but completists might spend close to 50 hours finishing every quest and gathering every collectible.It is no doubt that this is the best game ever developed by Ubisoft .

Despite featuring a unique, admirable protagonist, the story suffers a similar fate. Both the scene to scene transitions and the overall structure of Aveline’s tale are severely disjointed. Story threads are chopped into little morsels and doled out piecemeal, never weaving together into a coherent narrative. It’s a clear mark of Liberation’s portable origins, and while it’s somewhat understandable, it keeps some potentially explosive themes from being explored in the way they deserve to be. The toothless writing and uneven vocal performances finish the job, effectively killing any potential gravitas the major story beats could have otherwise had.....
